SEP-Fuel Cell Awareness &
Infrastructure Development
An Award was received from the State of Ohio’s Office of
Energy Efficiency entitled SEP-Fuel Cell Awareness &
Infrastructure Development. Funded by the Ohio
Department of Development, this effort is intended to lay
the groundwork for use of Distributed Energy Resources in a
proactive mitigation response strategy for meeting the
state’s critical energy requirements in significant Homeland
Security breeches. A full scale trial and demonstration of
several different DG sources (fuel cell and traditional)
will be effected to power the emergency energy needs of the
Brooklyn Heights, Ohio, community center where citizens
could gather to meet their basic security and safety needs (ie,
lighting, heat and water). Needed changes in legislation,
protocols, and policies will be identified for realizing
broader use of DER generation for emergency applications
within the DER impact envelope.
